Travel To and From the Island
The Island is more accessible than it might appear with 3 Companies operating several different services across the Solent at most times of the day and night.

Islandline trains run a comprehensive service from Shanklin to Ryde Pierhead (connecting to the Wightlink fast catamaran service to Portsmouth Harbour Station and onward trains(National Rail Enquiries) to London Waterloo. Island stations are: Ryde Pierhead;Ryde Esplanade;Ryde St Johns; Smallbrook Junction (connecting to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway);Brading; Sandown;Lake and Shanklin.

Onward Travel
All the mainland ferry ports are well served with local connections, particularly Southampton (M3, M27, M275) and Portsmouth (M27 and A3(M))  The fast catamaran to Southampton connects with buses from Newport and to Southampton Central via a free bus or short taxi ride. The catamaran to Portsmouth Harbour Station can be reached by Island Line trains from Shanklin, Sandown, Lake, Brading and Ryde.  Fast trains from Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour take only 1 hour and 15 minutes - 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach London Waterloo.
